ASM is a private, independent, not-for-profit, co-educational day school for students from K1 through grade 12. The school enrolls approx. 875 students, with a “magical mix” composition of one third U.S. citizens, one third Spanish nationals and the remaining third representing 50 other nationalities. ASM offers a US college-preparatory curriculum, as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Spanish Programa Oficial and it is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, the International Baccalaureate, and the Spanish Ministry of Education, offering one of the most comprehensive international academic programs in the Madrid area. Instruction is in English, Spanish is compulsory for all students and French/Mandarin are optional from grade 6. ASM’s ten-acre campus is home to five main buildings which house an Early Childhood and Lower School purpose-built facility, a Middle/Upper School building, a Center for the Arts, and the newly inaugurated Center for the Sciences and Athletics Complex. The school has a 600-seat auditorium, an exhibition gallery, a 300 m2 multipurpose room, a robotics lab, a library (containing over 32,000 reference components), six computer labs, one laptop per child from K3 to Grade 8, three portable laptop labs for Upper School, a cafeteria, a Da Vinci innovation & creativity room, two gymnasiums, two outdoor tennis and basketball courts, one outdoor volleyball court, a fitness center, an artificial tur soccer field, an all-weather athletic track, and a baseball diamond.
